Arrow Video Frightfest Digital preview: I Am Lisa Simon Fitzjohn August 14, 2020 Film4 Frightfest, London, London Previews 740 Another film getting the ‘world premiere’ treatment at Frightfest is monster/revenge mash-up I Am Lisa. Helmed by Patrick Rea, who has a crazy amount of genre material on his resume (69 directorial gigs if imdb is accurate), the film is certainly in good hands – in fact his 2013 outing Nailbiter has popped up on The Horror Channel a few times. Here’s the synopsis for this one… A vicious and corrupt small-town sheriff and her deputies brutalize Lisa and leave her for dead in the nearby woods. There she is bitten by a werewolf and bestowed with supernatural abilities. Can Lisa retain her humanity as she exacts revenge and cedes herself more and more to the wolf side of her personality? A creature feature primed to bullseye the current female empowerment zeitgeist. Taking the lead role in this one is Kristen Vaganos, making her move into features from shorts and TV fare. Vaganos is supported by the likes of Jennifer Seward, Manon Halliburton and Carmen Anello. I can’t find a trailer for this one, but here’s a local news story about the filming… I Am Lisa screens at Arrow Video Frightfest Digital on Friday, August 28.
