I’m not really sure we need another Robin Hood movie at present, but perhaps the (sweet or bitter) taste of Russell Crowe’s recent-ish outing will be enough to convince moviegoers to give this new one a spin when it arrives in November.

To be fair this one does promise something a little bit different, and with the likes of Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx and Ben Mendelsohn heading the cast it is certainly interesting, if nothing else.

Here’s the synopsis:

Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

Pretty straightforward, so here’s a teaser trailer to back it up:

Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan round out the principle cast, with the film also marking a departure for director Otto Bathurst, who moves into the big leagues after a career mainly in the world of television, having helmed episodes of the likes of Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror.

Robin Hood lands in cinemas on November 21.
