The first trailer has landed for Jo Nesbo adaptation The Snowman – and we like it.

It’s a return to the big screen for Swedish director Tomas Alfredson, who has wowed us with the likes of Let The Right One In and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in the past.

Michael Fassbender takes the lead here, starring as detective Harry Hole, on the trail of a killer who has the neat trick of leaving a snowman near his victims, with decapitation also part of the gory procedure.

Shot in Norway, we get plenty of snowy landscapes, Fassbender on shouty form and suggestions of something that will be pretty dark and gruesome when it hits the big screens in October.

Joining Fassbender are the likes of Rebecca Ferguson, JK Simmons and even Val Kilmer.
