We’ve got to wait until November 11 for this one to touch down, but it’s fair to say that Arrival is looking good so far.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has rattled out the effective Prisoners and Sicario over the past year or so, this is a change of pace, with the director dipping his toes (or jumping straight in if the trailer is anything to go by) the waters of sci-fi.

Arrival also stars the likes of Forest Whitaker and Jeremy Renner.

Here’s the pretty simple synopsis:

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – led by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

And here’s a new international trailer to tide you over until release:
