The Frightfest bods have unveiled their ‘surprise film’ that is set to kick-off the Halloween all-dayer, and turns out its sci-fi comedy mash-up Lazer Team.

Courtesy of American web sensation collective Rooster Teeth, the film is billed as a ‘cocktail homage to blockbuster sci-fi nostalgia, weird creatures, crude humour and hilarious romance’.

Here’s the full synopsis:

In the 1970s a message comes from outer space. Aliens are challenging humanity to a duel and information is on its way to explain everything. However that mysterious package still hasn’t arrived in 2015 despite the US government remaining on full alert and Earth’s ‘One True Warrior’ constantly training. When the delivery ends up in the hands of a ragtag band of idiots, complete global destruction looks inevitable…

If I’m brutally honest, the trailer (which we include below) chalk this up as another title I’m not exactly sure why is featuring at a Halloween horror shindig, but it looks a decent slice of entertaiment anyways.

Directed by Matt Hullum and starring the likes of Burnie Burns, Gavin Free and Alan Ritchson, Lazer Team will kick off the London all-dayer on October 24.

Here’s that trailer:
