Electing to go down the prequel route that has served horror cinema well down the years, the UK trailer for the latest instalment in the Insidious franchise has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis this time around:

The darkest chapter goes back to the beginning.

This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

The new chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell.

Also starring the likes of Dermot Mulroney, Insidious Chapter 3 hits cinemas on June 5.
