We admit, we’re pretty excited by the prospect of Angelina Jolie’s second outing as director.

Having seen her original effort behind the camera, 2011’s In The Land Of Blood And Honey, sidelined for various reasons, Universal really seem to be getting behind this one.

The trailer is pretty hard-hitting stuff, showcasing what would appear to be the latest instalment in actor Jack O’Connell’s rise to fully-fledged movie star.

The film’s synopsis is as follows:

“Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s (“Seabiscuit: An American Legend”) enormously popular book,Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini’s unbelievable and inspiring true story about theresilient power of the human spirit.

Starring alongside O’Connell are Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock as Phil and Mac—the airmen with whom Zamperini endured perilous weeks adrift in the open Pacific—Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini’s brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as “The Bird.”

Unbroken arrives in UK cinemas on December 26.
