Throwing us headlong into the murky, murderous world of 1981 New York City, the first trailer has debuted for upcoming thriller A Most Violent Year.

Focusing on an immigrant and his family, looking to capitalise and build an empire on the crime-ridden streets, the film stars the likes of Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain.

Directed by JC Chandor, who came up with Margin Call and the Robert Redford-at-sea flick All Is Lost in recent years, A Most Violent Year seems to have plenty of talent in all the right places.

After all, Isaac really seems a star on the rise at present, something that is only likely to increase with the hype for Star Wars Episode VII.

Chastain is another that rarely produces a duff role, so we look forward to this when it lands in cinemas in December.
