Spanish horror heads to the festival in the shape of Juanfer Andres and Esteban Roel’s Shrew’s Nest (aka Musaranas).

Set in post-Civil War Spain, the story follows two sisters, agoraphobe Montse (Macarena Gomez) and younger sister Elisa (Nadia de Santiago), who live together in a shared flat.

Things take a turn for the sinister when Montse finds neighbour Carlos on the staircase of their apartment block with a broken leg.

Taking him in to care for his injuries, this merely triggers a series of events that get progressively darker.

After all, Carlos has entered the shrew’s nest – but will he ever leave…..

The trailer suggests plenty of tension, as well as infusions of in-your-face gore, so we are looking forward to this one.

Also starring Luis Tosar, who produced a stunning turn in the recent creepfest Sleep Tight, Shrew’s Nest plays at the festival on October 8 and 10.
