London Film Festival Cult Preview: Shrew’s Nest Simon Fitzjohn September 19, 2014 Latest News and Videos, London Film Festival 1937 Spanish horror heads to the festival in the shape of Juanfer Andres and Esteban Roel’s Shrew’s Nest (aka Musaranas). Set in post-Civil War Spain, the story follows two sisters, agoraphobe Montse (Macarena Gomez) and younger sister Elisa (Nadia de Santiago), who live together in a shared flat. Things take a turn for the sinister when Montse finds neighbour Carlos on the staircase of their apartment block with a broken leg. Taking him in to care for his injuries, this merely triggers a series of events that get progressively darker. After all, Carlos has entered the shrew’s nest – but will he ever leave….. The trailer suggests plenty of tension, as well as infusions of in-your-face gore, so we are looking forward to this one. Also starring Luis Tosar, who produced a stunning turn in the recent creepfest Sleep Tight, Shrew’s Nest plays at the festival on October 8 and 10.
