I’m expecting the majority of you, like us here at Movie Ramblings towers, had a good time watching 2009’s Nazi zombie opus Dead Snow – after all, it’s pretty tough not to at least chuckle at any film that comes up with the ingenious tagline ‘Ein. Zwei. Die!’

Nazi horror has been a virtual genre in itself over recent years, what with the likes of the Outpost series, so it was a welcome change of pace when director Tommy Wirkola elected to give the mix a comedic shake-up.

Well, five years on and Wirkola is back, promising plenty more carnage as zombie SS officer Herzog continues his rampage of carnage.

Vegar Hoel returns as Martin, the sole human survivor of the first flick, now in hospital and being blamed for the murders of all of his friends in the mountains.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Martin, for some reason, has also had Herzog’s severed arm attached to his shoulder by mistake – which just happens to give him zombie-creating powers.

From there (as the trailer so lovingly tells us) it is gore-soaked action all the way, as Martin and his band of helpers must join forces as Herzog’s dead army advance on the small town of Tarvik.

The trailer certainly packs in plenty of entertainment, and Dead Snow 2 looks as though it could be a real crowd-pleaser.

As well as Hoel, Orjan Gamst also returns as Herzog, joined by the likes of Martin Starr and Amrita Acharia.

Dead Snow 2: Red vs Dead screen at London’s Frightfest on Friday August 24.
