Elijah Wood has been making a bit of a name for himself in the horror genre recently, what with the surprisingly-good remake of Maniac and stylish Euro flick Grand Piano.

So we are more than happy to see him back at Frightfest, with this multi-platform thriller that takes internet horror to a new level (hopefully).

Wood plays Nick Chambers, the webmaster of a fan site devoted to movie star Jill Goddard (porn star turned horror starlet Sasha Grey).

Naturally Chambers is pretty delighted when he learns he has ‘won’ a competition to get up close and personal to Goddard and her latest project.

Of course though, being a genre flick and all that, the prize is nothing more than a ruse, an elaborate hoax that will see both Chambers and Goddard under threat from a mysterious superfan – who appears to have an English accent no less (and could well be Kill List star Neil Maskell).

Directed by Nacho Vigalondo, who has the offbeat Timecrimes and a segment in The ABCs Of Death (among other things) to his name, Open Windows gets its UK premiere at London’s Frightfest on Sunday, August 24.
