The first trailer for the Denzel Washington/Antoine Fuqua team-up The Equalizer has arrived for us to pore over.

Showcasing plenty of action, Denzel looking mean and moody and Chloe Moretz in Jodie Foster/Taxi Driver mode, the film certainly looks as though it could satisfy our gun battle cravings.

What it doesn’t look like though, is anything like its supposed inspiration – the 80s Edward Woodward TV classic.

In fact, unless the trailer is holding something back, you do wonder just why they have bothered to call it The Equalizer at all – save for the recognition value.

Even so, Denzel is usually good value in this sort of thing, and Fuqua has shown he can handle things exploding in the likes of Shooter, Olympus Has Fallen and, of course, Training Day, so we’ll still be checking this out come release on September 26.
