As anyone who knows me (or has read some of my witterings on this site) is aware, take an attractive actress and stick a gun in her hand and I’m likely to get a bit hot under the collar.

I suppose I should at some point take a step back and analyse just why that is so, but to be honest I’m a bit worried about what I’d find out about myself.

Anyhow for the reasons above, when news came along of Scarlett Johansson starring in an over-the-top Luc Besson action-fest, I was already sold.

And the trailer has done nothing to dissipate that anticipation, with a mix of stylish visuals and violence suiting me down to the ground.

Sure, the film will almost certainly turn out to be a style-over-substance affair, but frankly I don’t care.

If you’re interested in the plot, Johnasson plays the title character, a drugs mule who somehow gets endowed with some ridiculously-heightened powers after swallowing said substances, allowing her to wage war on a host of criminal forces.

Morgan Freeman and Old Boy star Min-sik Choi also star, with the film set to hit cinemas in August.

Here’s some fresh images from the film to enjoy:
