We have no problem admitting that Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes proved one of our most pleasant cinema-going surprises of 2011.

So it’s only natural that we are really looking forward to the follow-up, due to hit cinemas in July 2014.

The teaser trailer is due to hit next Wednesday, but to whet the appetite Fox have released the first official teaser poster for the project, showing Caesar in all his glory.

The brief synopsis for the sequel suggests a war between man and ape in the wake of the devastating virus that came to be at the conclusion of the last film, with Matt Reeves taking over from Rupert Wyatt in the director’s chair.

Star Andy Serkis returns, joined this time by the likes of Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and Keri Russell.
