Having been afforded a scant cinema release late last year (under its original title GBH), director Simon Phillips sees his British crime caper get another bite at the commercial cherry, now on DVD.

The flick has been rebranded as Riot for its December 23 home entertainment bow and stars Nick Nevern as a troubled cop up to his eyes in mayhem in the midst of the 2011 London riots.

The twist is that Nevern’s Damien used to be a bit of a lad himself, part of a gang of football hooligans that caused havoc wherever they went.

Now on the other side of the law, Damien has to make a choice – side with his old crew or protect London as it burns.

Riot also stars the likes of Kellie Shirley, Jenna Harrison and even Steven Berkoff.

He has written three books - on the horror films of director Bob Clark (2014), the history of the character Norman Bates (2015) and the work of British exploitation director Pete Walker (2017). He is currently working with director Richard Loncraine to explore all avenues in a bid to orchestrate the re-release of 1978 Mia Farrow chiller Full Circle
