We love a good Frankenstein movie here at Movie Ramblings, whether it be the likes of the Hammer classics, or even a modern updating like Frankenstein’s Army.

Looking to take things in a very different direction though is director Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein, an over-the-top CGI fest if this first trailer is to be believed.

Aaron Eckhart plays Adam (or Frankenstein’s creature if you will), who finds himself caught in one of those centuries-old wars between immortal clans that they love to throw up on the big screen for our delectation.

It all looks a bit Underworld if we’re honest, not surprising when you consider it is penned by Kevin Grevioux, who scripted the first of the Kate Beckinsale action flicks.

They also manage to find a role for Bill Nighy, as well as the likes of Yvonne Strahovski, while Miranda Otto also squeezes in the line ‘Frankenstein must be destroyed’, which we assume must be a nod to the Hammer faves, considering that’s the title of one of their Peter Cushing epics….

Eckhart certainly looks buff enough and this looks as though it could be a bunch of nonsensical fun when it lands in cinemas early next year.
