Earlier this year it was announced that Sam Mendes would be returning to direct the next instalment of the Bond franchise.

With Skyfall having made over one billion dollars at the box office, it was no surprise really that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson wanted him back. And considering how well the film set things up the future of the series, many fans have been eager to know if Bond is indeed returning to it’s roots.

Having chatted to Vulture this week, Daniel Craig has now addressed the issue.

“Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony, and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche. I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense? I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it.”

It doesn’t sound like Daniel Craig will be raising his eyebrows a la Roger Moore, but needless to say we’re eager to see what goods Mendes, Craig and the team can produce.

Bond 24 is due for release in November 2015.
