If you fancy a bit of Evil Dead-style horror, but with a Swedish twist, then Frightfest is the place to be this August for Wither.

All the motifs are in place – a cabin in the woods, a bevy of attractive young adults, along with talk of ancient curses and demons in the basement.

The trailer certainly offers up plenty of in-your-face carnage, so it could certainly prove a piece of slam-bang entertainment, even if it does look a bit of a rip-off (or homage as the press release put it).

Directed by Sonny Liguna and Tommy Wiklund (who penned 2011 horror Blood Runs Cold), Wither stars the likes of Patrik Almqvist and Lisa Henni, and screens at Frightfest on Friday, August 23.
