Spanish horror is well represented at Frightfest this year, with For Elisa already having been previewed on this site.

Well, another flick from the region that looks set to create a stir is The Last Days, the latest effort from directorial team David & Alex Pastor.

The Pastors were responsible for Carriers, the Chris Pine-starring 2009 virus chiller that caught a few people by surprise (us included).

Which is why we will have close eyes on this one, another epidemic thriller that blends sci-fi, horror and raw emotion.

The hook this time around is that the world has become gripped by The Panic, an affliction that sees an irrational fear of open spaces sweep the world, leading to some nasty deaths around the globe.

To combat the threat, folk simply decide to spend all their time indoors, terrified to move.

But Marc decides to risk all that as he scours Barcelona to try and find his pregnant girlfriend.

The trailer promises a mix of I Am Legend-esque visuals, along with plenty of scares, while the Frightfest bods themselves have dubbed it clever, moving and visually startling, so we look forward to its screening at the festival on Sunday, August 25.
