With the summer of blockbusters slowly drawing to a close, attentions begin to turn to the fare being offered up over the rest of the year.

And, being the comic-book geeks we are, naturally one that has caught our eye big-time is Thor: The Dark World.

We are happy to admit that the 2011 original proved better than we expected, so we have high hopes this time around.

Alan Taylor replaces Kenneth Branagh in the director’s chair, but the good news is pretty much all of the original cast have returned.

The story this time around features Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster in peril, forcing Thor back into action as he bids to protect her at all costs – even roping in Loki to help in his quest.

The new trailer showcases plenty of action, even if it does go on a bit too long (and give too much away) for my liking.

Thor: The Dark World hits UK cinemas on October 30.
