One of the more intriguing offerings to pop up at this year’s Frightfest festival is Haunter, director Vincenzo Natali’s latest.

And if you’re wondering just why this has piqued our interest so much, well a quick glance at Natali’s back catalogue, which shows he has helmed the likes of Cube, Cypher and Splice, should have you as excited as us.

This time around the director heads for ghost story territory, although he is still able to throw in plenty of vintage murders and time travel just to make things a bit different.

Abigail Breslin plays Lisa Johnson, one of a family slaughtered by serial killer the Haunter back in 1985.

Lisa is forced to spend eternity in limbo, reliving her fateful last day, only for an event to give her the opportunity to cross into the present and warn the Haunter’s future victims.

Also starring the likes of David Hewlett, Michelle Nolden and Stephen McHattie, Haunter screens at Frightfest on Friday, August 23.
