Billed as The Hunt For Red October meets Crimson Tide, submarine thriller Phantom is all set to surface on DVD in the UK this August.

Starring the likes Of Ed Harris and David Duchovny, this is a Cold War tale which centres on a Russian sub that pushes the world to the brink of war when it goes missing (complete with nuclear missiles) in the Pacific.

Harris plays the weary, battle-scarred captain that finds himself backed into a corner, while Duchovny pops up as a rogue KGB agent.

In fact, Phantom has a pretty strong cast all round, with the likes of William Fichtner and Lance Henriksen rounding out a genre-fave heavy supporting troupe.

Director Todd Robinson has some pedigree in this field, producing the Ridley Scott seafaring adventure White Squall back in 1996, so let’s hope for some watery thrills come August 19.
