A cursory glance across the pages of Movie Ramblings will show that when it comes to movie sub-genres, the female revenge flick is one that really floats my boat.

Which is why I am all over the upcoming Sweet Vengeance, a western that rides in with the promise of living up to the likes of Hannie Caulder.

January Jones takes the lead this time round, forced to take up arms after her husband meets a sticky end in a dispute over land.

Throw in Jason Isaacs as an over-zealous preacher and Ed Harris as a renegade sheriff and you have the elements for a cracking yarn – one that Total Film have already dubbed ‘inventively violent’ no less.

The trailer certainly delivers the goods, so we have fingers crossed when the film debuts on DVD on June 3.
