Amid all the comic-book blockbusters that are flooding cinema screens this year, R.I.P.D seems to have got a bit lost.

But the launch of this first trailer may change all that, even if there is a distinct whiff of Men In Black hanging over the whole thing.

Ryan Reynolds stars as Nick Walker, a recently slain cop who finds himself working for a team of undead police officers – the Rest In Peace Department.

Walker is teamed up with Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges in True Grit mode), set to fight all sorts of creatures that come their way.

Based on the graphic novels from Peter Lenkov, R.I.P.D. also stars Mary-Louise Parker among others and is directed by Robert Schwentke.

The flick hits UK cinemas on August 30.
