The first UK trailer has popped up online for upcoming corruption thriller Broken City.

Starring Mark Wahlberg as a disgraced cop turned private detective, the film digs under layers of corruption, crime and murder in New York after Wahlberg’s Billy Taggart is hired by the NYC Mayor (Russell Crowe) to investigate his wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones).

Wahlberg is a a seasoned hand at this sort of stuff, having produced decent turns in the likes of The Departed, We Own The Night and The Corrupter over recent years.

The film also marks Allen Hughes’ return to the director’s chair after a hiatus following The Book Of Eli back in 2010 and, while that was hardly a classic, I am a fan of the likes of From Hell, Menace II Society and Dead Presidents, which Allen co-directed with brother Albert.

Broken City hits UK cinemas on March 1, 2013.
