Frightfest preview: Chained Simon Fitzjohn August 2, 2012 Features, Film4 Frightfest 2317 Vincent D’Onofrio fans are in for a real treat at Frightfest this year, as not only does he crop up in Sinister (previewed yesterday on this site), but he also takes the lead in this dark chiller. Directed by Jennifer Lynch, Chained tells the tale of deranged taxi driver Bob (D’Onofrio), who has a penchant for kidnapping passengers and chaining them up as slaves back at his grimy house. There is also plenty of slaughter naturally, with those who have been snatched forced to bury the bodies. Turns out that Bob has been doing this for quite some time, leading him to have quite the family back at his abode (all in chains of course). After Bob enslaves one particular victim, he offers him the chance of some freedom – if he becomes a killer himself. Also starring Julia Ormond (who I had a bit of a thing for back in the day), Chained is cinema at its uncompromising best. Chained screens at Frightfest on Monday, August 27.
