News: The Equalizer set to roll Simon Fitzjohn July 24, 2012 Latest News and Videos 1826 After numerous delays, setbacks, false starts and rumours, Sony Pictures have announced that they will begin shooting the reboot of the 80s TV classic The Equalizer in April 2013. The flick has yet to snare a director (although a number are circling the project), but Denzel Washington still seems set to star, with a script from Richard Wenk recently getting the go-ahead. The original series was a true classic of its time (I think), but I’m honestly not sure whether I think that way because of the late Edward Woodward’s cool-as portrayal as the hard-as-nails Robert McCall, or that I am just swayed by the goosebumps I still get whenever I hear the theme music (see video below). Washington’s McCall is described as “solitary, monastic figure who hates injustice and devotes himself to helping people who are being victimized.” Denzel has certainly proved his action credentials over the years in the likes of The Book Of Eli, Out Of Time etc so I suppose we shall see…….
