A few days ago, Ridley Scott confirmed that the only thing linking Alien to Prometheus was a character played by Guy Pearce – a certain individual by the name of Peter Weyland.

And without a shadow of a doubt, co-owner of the murky corporation Weyland-Yutani that plagued Ellen Ripley during Alien, Aliens and Alien 3.

Other than that, the two films would not be linked at all.

Well, judging by the viral video below, it’s clear why Ridley Scott decided to make this announcement.

What isn’t clear is why the Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox are still claiming that the links between Alien and Prometheus are few and far between. Especially when you consider that the marketing so far has relied heavily on much the iconic cues from Alien, both visually and audibly.

The font on the posters is the same and the trailer for Prometheus even has that high pitch squeal that was used so effectively back in 1979 for the first Alien trailer.

For the time being, we’re going to have to continue scratching our heads until the films release later this year.
